What we collect.

Faceroom is built around "no accounts, no meeting links." That posture carries over to data: we collect the bare minimum needed to know whether the app is working, and you can turn it off at any time.

Product analytics

We use PostHog (EU region, eu.i.posthog.com) for anonymous product analytics. Data is stored in the EU.

The toggle is on by default and is labeled “Send anonymous usage data” in the Mac app’s Settings window (⌘,). Flip it off and Faceroom stops sending events immediately.

Events we capture

  • app_open — the app launched.
  • ptt_press — you held push-to-talk (duration only, no audio).
  • session_minutes — how long the app stayed open in a session.
  • crash — a signal-only sentinel if the app died unexpectedly. No stack traces, no memory contents.

What we do not collect

  • No name, email, or account — Faceroom has no accounts.
  • No room names, chat content, video, or audio.
  • No IP address linked to your events. Each install generates a random anonymous distinct_id kept locally; it is not tied to anything that identifies you.
  • No third-party trackers, ad networks, or fingerprinting.

How to opt out

  1. 1. Open Faceroom and press ⌘, to open Settings.
  2. 2. Untick “Send anonymous usage data”.

That's it — no event will leave your machine again, and the existing anonymous id is forgotten the next time the app starts.
